Weekly Update from the P.S./I.S. 217 (Roosevelt Island School) PTA

Hawks Happenings
For January 3rd - Fri., January 7th: 

We wish everyone a most happy New Year and hope you had a wonderful holiday break!  

Parent Social Hour - THIS Friday, Jan. 7th
8:30am - 9:30am, Cafeteria 

All parents and caregivers of students at PS/IS 217 are encouraged to join together for a Parent Social Hour THIS Friday (tomorrow!).  Come to the cafeteria after drop-off.  Breakfast drinks provided - please bring something to share. (bagels, muffins, fruit, etc.)

BOX TOPS are DUE! {for month of December}
Due: Friday, January 7th!  Please send in all BOX TOPS collected during the month of December.  Put clipped BOX TOPS on the Collection Sheets or in a zip-loc bag with your child's name and teacher clearly labeled.  Updates on class totals will be sent next week!

Meet with Early Childhood Social Worker Donn Duerr
Many parents enjoyed learning from Donn Duerr at December's PTA Meeting/Parent Meeting.  He is available for further meeting with those interested individuals/families every other Thursday each month.  Be sure to schedule and appointment through Ms. Lauraine in the main office, and enjoy this valuable resource at our school!  
Available this month:  Thursday January 20th 

January 14th, Friday - School Leadership Team (SLT) Meeting, 7:30am
*Parent nominations are open for 1 spot.  Please email to nominate yourself, another parent or for any questions.   
January 17th, Monday - NO SCHOOL, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Holiday  
January 19th, Wednesday - Birthday Celebration!  2:15pm {School Cafeteria} 
January 20th, Thursday - General PTA Meeting, 6pm {School Library}
January 31st, Monday - Student of the Month Assemblies
